Shared Ministry (Volunteer Opportunities)
Social Justice Committee
This group is established to educate and inspire all parish households to embody the social teachings of the Catholic Church. Committee meets monthly from September through June. Join us in the work of empowering all in the good work of justice!
Loaves and Fishes
St. Margaret Mary cooks and serves a meal for the homeless at St. Stephen School in Minneapolis on the third Thursday of each month from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Volunteers prepare the bread, make the chili and serve the meal.
Dinner At Your Door
Volunteers pick up hot meals at North Memorial Hospital or Calvary Lutheran Church and deliver them to the homebound in the community.. This takes about an hour on the first Friday and third Monday of the month.
Food Shelf Deliverer
St. Margaret Mary works and supports PRISM (People Responding in Social Ministry). Food is collected at church and delivered to PRISM. Bring the donations of food and household supplies from our church building to PRISM
Sharing & Caring Hands
Three or four times a year, volunteers from St. Margaret Mary prepare and serve a meal at Sharing & Caring Hands
BeFrienders
Be a companion on the journey through listening, presence and compassion at times of special need. On-going supervision. Supervision monthly.
First Friday Breakfast
Assist in providing breakfast for the retired seniors after Mass.
Ministry to Homebound
Parishioners bring Eucharist to the homebound on Sunday mornings. This ministry requires about two hours every three weeks
Ministry to Hospitals
Parishioners bring Eucharist to those in the hospital on Tuesdays. This ministry requires about two hours every four weeks
Volunteer at Robbinsdale Rehabilitation and Care Center
Each Saturday, a Communion Service is conducted at the Care Center at 10:30 AM. People are needed to transport residents to and from their rooms to the Common Room. We also participate in the service by singing and joining in the prayers. This ministry requires two hours on a Saturday.
Herb’s Hands
Parishioners help with small things needed by the homebound or sick.
PRISM (People Responding in Social Ministry)
PRISM accepts donations of food and clothing. Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks. Please call 763-529-1350 if you are interested in volunteer opportunities at PRISM
